This year the Yass Red Cross will feature the gardens of three seperate properties on the Yass River Road near Yass. Featuring a range of markets, arts and fashion shows but take note! . . . only on SUNDAY 6th NOVEMBER.

Also on the weekend following the official CLASSIC YASS weekend, Red Cross are proud to announce a special event at historic ‘Cavan’ on the Murrumbidgee River, involving a talk and tour around this famous pastoral homestead. More of that later! Now, back to the CLASSIC YASS weekend . . . All three gardens on the CLASSIC YASS can be found along the Yass River Road and can be easily accessed either from the Yass Valley Way at the Barton Highway roundabout or via Murrumbateman. The three gardens include:

‘Matong’ - 330 Yass River Road
Owned by Cameron and Elizabeth Crisp. ‘Matong’ is a beautiful established garden with large expanses of lawns and trees. Stone walls and hedges mark the boundaries.

‘Olwem’ - 533 Yass River Road
Owned by Mr and Mrs Jim Cuthbertson, ‘Olwem’ features 10 acres of river front garden, natives, roses, with garden rooms and extensive orchard areas, growing olives, truffles and fruits.

‘Casamarah’ - 1512 Yass River Road,
Owned by Sam and Marie Polyak. ‘Casamarah’ is more a cottage garden, with a large property of trees, natives and some roses.

The Yass Red Cross will present craft and produce stalls at ‘Olwem’ and ‘Casamarah’. There will also be fashion parades at 'Matong' and ‘Casamarah’. Refreshments, tea ,coffee and sandwiches will be available at the 'Matong' and 'Casamarah' gardens.
 
Former Yass resident and nursery owner, now garden guru and garden designer Cedric Bryant, has agreed to come and be a wandering garden expert! He will be at 'Matong' from 10am-12pm, at 'Olwem' from 12-2pm and then along at 'Casmarah' from 2-4pm. People should bring their gardening questions and problems and Cedric will solve them!

Admission: $10 for all three gardens, payable at any front gate. Open 10am till 4pm.

Stalls will feature: jewellery, plant, hats, clothing, wine, food, crafty bits, chocolates etc.
Fashion parades are at Matong at 11am and Casamarah at 1.30pm. Huge raffles.

SUNDAY 13th NOVEMBER

CAVAN: A History of a Pastoral Homestead  - Sunday 13th November

Renowned historian and writer Cheryl Mongan will present a history of this great property located on the Murrumbidgee River near Yass.

Mrs Mongan will speak at two sessions the first beginning at 10pm the second at 2 pm. Guests will be given time following the talk to wander the grounds and ask further questions.

Admission:$25 per head.
Tickets can only be obtained on a pre-booked/pre-paid arrangement, and will not be available at the venue.
