Celebration of Heritage Motoring, Saturday 5th November 2012
Organized by the Yass Antique Motor Club, the ‘Celebration of Heritage Motoring’ has been staged in Banjo Paterson Park, an idyllic setting in the centre of the historic town of Yass, since 2006 .
The ‘Celebration of Heritage Motoring’ is staged on the Saturday of CLASSIC YASS and features vintage and classic sedan and sports cars, motorbikes, military vehicles, fire engines and racing cars, all from the early 1900’s through to the mid 70’s, all wonderfully displayed throughout the park with a motor show quality. Also a Celebration of Vintage Fashion, visitors to the park are encouraged to dress in your favourite style of a bygone era, reliving the glamour of days gone by.
Sydney band "The Hips", a favourite attraction for locals and visitors to the area, will provide some great free entertainment in the park throughout Saturday from 11 am. and perform again Saturday evening at the Yass Soldiers Club. On Sunday, the Yass Antique Motor Club and guests will be travelling to the open gardens for their enjoyment where lunch will be available from local charities.
10 - 3.30 - Celebration of Heritage Motoring
10 am - Morning Teas in CWA Rooms, food stalls & Rotary Bar-B-Q, Activities for children, Vintage memorabilia Display CWA Rooms
11 am - 'The Hips' play popular music
12.30pm - Fashion Parade and judging. All welcome to participate for Best Vintage Costume in the Fashion Parade ($150 gift voucher from Label Love Boutique)
1 pm - Rotary Billy Cart Derby Finals (Rossi Street)
3 pm - Presentation of Awards - Banjo Paterson Park
THE MOTOR SHOW
Our “Motorshow Style” of display requires planning in advance, so it is important that we have vehicle details prior to the event. For this reason we ask all entrants to complete an entry form and return it in plenty of time before the entry closing date. THE LOOK
The Celebration of Heritage Motoring is also a Celebration of Vintage Fashion. Relive the glamour of days gone by and dress in your favourite style of a bygone era - the 50's and 60's are always popular! Join in on our fashion parade over lunch time and be in the running for one of our great prizes. Best Period Costume and Best Vehicle/Costume Combination on the Day.
THE MUSIC
“This year we shall do a few special songs – Rick will sing Looking For an Echo, we will do On The Prowl and Goodnight Sweetheart – as we did in Ol’55!” Sydney band "The Hips", featuring Rockpile Jones and Paul McCann from the original ‘Ol 55 line up, enjoy the outing to Yass, and will be back for two performances once again. This band has become a favourite attraction for locals and visitors to the area and will provide some great free entertainment in the park throughout Saturday from 11 am and then ‘Rock our World’ for a 50’s theme charity dance at the Yass Soldiers Club on Saturday evening from 8 pm - for just $10 per head! Tickets for the night will soon be available from various retail outlets in Yass as well as at the door on the night. Dress up and come along for a great night for the whole family!
THE BILLY CART DERBY
In ajoining Rossi Street, the Yass Rotary Club in conjunction with the Yass Antique Motor Club, bring out all the fun and antics of the annual Billy Cart Derby, its right there for you to enjoy during the day as part of the entertainment. SUNDAY
On the Sunday those visitors with classic vehicles who feel like a drive are invited to join the Yass Antique Motor Club for a Sunday run taking in parts of the YASSarts ‘Arts Trail’ and the Red Cross Open Gardens.
